Assigning tasks

Stuff that needs to be done.

1) We need writers to write something for the various fan efforts for the main site.

2) We need graphics for the website.

3) Can someone reseach the best way to handle the money for the charity? When MI.net did the Kristen charity thing, I used a paypal account to accept donations. Paypal has a service fee. Is there another option?

4) We need people to pimp the site to other VM communities.

5) We need people to pimp the site to other fandoms.

6) We need people to contact the other VM webmasters to ask them to link to the site.

7) We should email Eonline Kristen and TV Guide Mike Ausiello to see if they would mention the site.

8) The big projects left are the Vlogathon and Worldwide VM Day? Should we persue these?

Re: Assigning tasks

I'll  write up the pledge page.

If we do the Vlogathon and WorldWide VM Day, I can be in charge of organizing that  . I just want to know if they are worth persuing.

Re: Assigning tasks

I think the Vlogathon is defiinitely worth pursuing. Most of us have some sort of blog anyway, so it won't be too much extra effort or anything.

As far as the WorldWide VM Day, I don't know if I'll be able to throw a viewing party myself (almost all my friends live kinda far from me) but if there's enough interest, I say go for it.

As far as the other stuff that needs to be done, I can help pimp to other communities and fandoms, and I can email anyone that needs to be emailed. I don't know any Paypal-like service that doesn't have fees, but if I come across one, I'll let you know. There is the option of having a free paypal account, but then we can't have a donation button.

Re: Assigning tasks

I'll write up whatever you need. Is there anything specific you want up on the site? Season summaries, character info, pleas for viewers, etc?

I can also email webmasters and pimp the site all over the place.

I play around with graphics but haven't gotten it down yet. I know there are some graphics people here already, but in a pinch I can throw something together if you need anything.

I vote yes on the Vlogathon. Like frankdbunny (great name, btw. Darko is my favorite movie) said, that's an easy one for most of us.

I think we're cutting it close for WorldWide VM Day. We should give people at least a week's notice before setting a date so that 1) their guests can get the day off work or find babysitters or otherwise clear their calendars and 2) the hosts can gather up everything they need to make the party good (favors, snack food, snickerdoodle recipes, etc.). Since I've been planning my Marsathon for a while, I have some ideas as to what people can do for their parties and since mine is tomorrow I can let you guys know what worked and what didn't. I think the absolute earliest we can have it would be next weekend, but realistically, the following weekend would probably be better.

We need people to write up something that explains the various campaign activities: podcast, newbie chat, flyers, my space, writing newspapers, charity, etc. The final version will be posted on the main site.

If you look at the links section of MI.net, you can find the links for the various websites, LJs, forums, and Yahoo groups. There are tons of them, so it will take a couple of people to contact all these communities.  I don't know how you guys want to divide the load, but one person can do all the message board, one person can do the first half of the LJs, one person does the 2nd half of the LJs.

There are a lot of great ideas, but they won't do much good if people don't know about them.

Re: Assigning tasks

I can definitely write something up for the main page.  Since I'm in charge of the myspace page, I can write up something about that, and an overall myspace effort other users can do.  Should I just write up what's going on, and then submit it where it says on the front page, and then you'd just review it and post it?

I can write up other stuff, as well.  I don't really know much about other projects, but I could try to write one up for the newbie chat.

edit: OK, well I tried going to the Submit a Myspace Update, but it said I didn't have authorization, so I'll just wait for more instructions! smile

I changed the settings. Try it now.

I've written an item for the writing to newspapers section so I too need more instructions.

Give people who are visiting the site for the first time and who haven't visited the forum instructions on what they should do.

Re: Assigning tasks

I sent something in about MySpace. Feel free to tear it to shreds, obviously. I believe you wrote that HTML wasn't needed, but if the links aren't active, sorry.

Re: Assigning tasks

I sent my item also and, like uscgirl said, edit it however you wish. I think that's what you were looking for but if not, let me know and I'll fix it.

EDIT: Just sent in an item on the newbie chat. Feel free to edit it or send it back.

What specifically do we want to tell everyone? About the April 11th switch? Or the site? Or the flyers?
